We may tell each other that money does not bring happiness, but when you think about it, it is not fun living month to month and barely saving up any money. Money does not shine happiness upon us, but it certainly clears the path towards it. We’re living in a material world where everything is run by the amount of money we have in our bank account.
It’s either that or the wildlife. So, in such a world it is natural, or to be more specific, It has become natural for everyone to aim for more, starting with money and then on to anything you put your mind to.
So, how does one become rich? Chance or design?
Knowing the fact that the wealthiest 1 percent hold up to a half of the world’s wealth should make us question ourselves just how did it come to be this way? For example, let’s look at Jack Ma. He is the founder of Alibaba, a Chinese e-commerce company that provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer and business-to-business sales services via web portals.
Jack Ma was rejected from Harvard, not once, but 10 times. When a chain of fast-food restaurants came to his town, 24 people applied for the job and 23 were accepted. Yes, he was the only one to be rejected, AGAIN. He certainly has gone through failure and in his case, came stronger out of it.
Jack says:”Many years ago, I wanted to change the world. Now I think if I want to change the world, we have to change ourselves. Changing ourselves is more important and easier than changing the world. And second is that I want to improve the world, because changing the world may be about a nice job. It’s my job to make sure that my team is happy because if my team is happy, they can make my customers happy.”
From this scenario, we can see that hard work and persistence can catapult you to success. The times are rapidly changing and we must allow ourselves to change alongside with them.
No matter how talented one is, if the will for success and dedication are not present, the talent usually goes to waste.
Lucky strike
Hard work, dedication, and persistence aside, what about the factors that are not controlled by our actions? The mythic phrase:”In the right place at the right time.”played a big role in the lives of many today’s rich people. Most of their wealth was inherited through the family business, therefore, they already had a solid ground to progress further.
Even so, successful people would rather not have their wealth explained as a chronological order of events that turned out in their favor. Yet, it seems that the combination of a hard work ethic, a bit luck breezing around us and the will and desire to succeed often leads to a positive outcome. Just as already mentioned Jack Ma of Alibaba started an online selling business just around the time when such kind of market started expanding, we need to reach out and capture the moment.
Being born under the lucky star certainly, gives one a bit of an unfair advantage over the others, but the race to success is eternal and new roads towards it are constantly being discovered.
